Orbis Online facilitates savings for Holt Company of Texas

(San Antonio, Texas) June 4, 2001 - San Antonio-based Orbis Online recently facilitated an online real-time reverse auction for Holt Company of Texas' San Antonio Operation, resulting in a savings of approximately 24% versus historical costs.

Holt Company of Texas, a Caterpillar® dealership that sells and services new and used Caterpillar machines and engines over a large geographical area in South and Central Texas, conducted the pilot to "test the water" with online reverse auctions for procurement. Holt submitted an RFQ (Request for Quote) for 960 boxes of 8.5 x 11, 20 lb paper, to be delivered in increments throughout the year. As facilitator, Orbis Online recruited suppliers across the local geographical area to participate in the reverse auction, which was conducted utilizing Orbis Online's patent-pending web-based e-procurement solution.
